Mad*Pow Named 2010 Webby Award Official Honoree

April 15, 2010

PORTSMOUTH, N.H., April 15, 2010

Mad*Pow announced that it was selected as an Honoree in the News category at the 14th Annual Webby Awards. Mad*Pow was recognized for their work on Variety magazine’s website, Variety.com. The 14th Annual Webby Awards received nearly 10,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states. Fewer than 15 percent of the entries were distinguished as an Official Honoree. The Webby Awards are the Internet’s most respected symbol of success.

Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by The New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Web sites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile Web sites. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences present the Webby Awards, a 650-person judging academy whose members include Martha Stewart, R/GA's Chief Bob Greenberg, David Bowie, Arianna Huffington and Twitter's Biz Stone.

“The Webby Awards honors the very best of the Internet,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. “Mad*Pow’s achievement is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.”
Recognized and respected throughout the world of show business, Variety is the premier source of business entertainment news. Since 1905, the most influential leaders in the industry have turned to Variety for timely, credible and straightforward news and analysis - information vital to their professions. Variety wanted to give the Web site a fresh, updated look and feel, as well as increase its reach and advertising revenue by targeting fast developing industry sectors. To achieve these business goals, Mad*Pow delivered an experience design strategy that included a review of existing research, user task flow analyses, a navigation overhaul, and an imaginative visual direction. Success of the site will be measured by an increase in advertising revenue, due to a more concise user flow for ad purposes.

This award comes on the heels of Variety.com winning at the 14th Annual MITX Interactive Awards. “Our people are our most valuable assets and allow us to do great work for our clients,” states Amy Cueva, founder and chief experience officer for Mad*Pow. “Our employees; visual designers, Flash experts, usability professionals, and sales staff bring a continued focus and deep understanding of how people consume digital media and use technology in their day-to-day lives. Variety.com delivers on usability and design. We are thrilled that Variety.com has received such great recognition.”
