Mad*Pow Hits Inc. 5000 List Second Year In A Row

August 26, 2010

PORTSMOUTH, N.H., August 25, 2010

Inc. magazine ranked Mad*Pow number 662 on its fourth annual Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. Despite the fact that most of this year’s measuring period of 2006-2009 took place during the latest recession, Mad*Pow reported a growth rate of more than 460 percent. This is the second year in a row that Mad*Pow is included in the rankings, an exclusive annual review of the most entrepreneurial and fastest-growing private companies in America.

“The leaders of the companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 have figured out how to grow their businesses during the longest recession since the Great Depression,” said Inc. president Bob LaPointe. “The 2010 Inc. 5000 showcases a particularly hardy group of entrepreneurs.”

Mad*Pow delivers research-inspired design aimed at increasing customer satisfaction, improving conversion rates, maximizing retention, and cutting costs. Understanding the value of optimizing a customer’s experience, Mad*Pow creates effective digital interactions that differentiate their clients from their competitors. The company works with global industry leaders, including Fidelity, Monster, ESPN, Timberland, Aetna, Intuit, and Autodesk.

Mad*Pow ranked 73 among all advertising and marketing companies on the list and ranked twelfth out of 100 companies in the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire metro area. The company is the second fastest growing advertising and marketing company in the Boston metro area.

“We are thrilled once again to be recognized for our growth as well as our contributions to the advertising and marketing industry,” said Will Powley, founder of Mad*Pow. “We attribute our success to our solid team of visual designers, Flash experts, usability professionals, and sales staff. As a collective team, we continually push ourselves to exceed client expectations so that customers become advocates that not only partner with us, but also sell us to their colleagues and friends. It is how we have grown since 2000 and how we will continue to succeed in the future.”
The 2010 Inc. 5000, unveiled in the September issue of Inc. magazine and on Inc.com, reported aggregate revenue of $18.4 billion—up significantly from last year's $13.7 billion—and a median three-year growth rate of 880.5 percent. The companies on this year's list are also responsible for creating more than 55,000 jobs since their founding, making the Inc. 500 perhaps the best example of the impact private, fast-growing companies can have on the overall U.S. economy. Complete results of the Inc. 500, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found on Inc.com.

The 2010 Inc. 5000, unveiled on Inc.com, serves as a unique report card on the U.S. economy. This year's Inc. 5000 employ a record 1.4 million people, up from one million on last year's list, making the list perhaps the best example of the impact private, fast-growing companies can have on the economy. Methodology

The 2010 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2006 to 2009. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by June 30, 2006. Additionally, they had to be based in the United States, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2009. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2006 is $80,000; the minimum for 2009 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. The top 10 percent of companies on the list constitute the Inc. 500, now in its 29th year.
