Student Essay Contest winners – REVEALED!

Amy Cueva - February 21st 2012

Today’s the day! Last week, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we decided to share the love with a little contest. We asked all of you forward-thinking creative geniuses out there to send us some of your suggestions for making the world of healthcare a better, happier place. Specifically: describe what you think a hospital waiting room should look like in 2020, and why.

In addition to writing the essay, participants also had to tweet using hashtags #hxdconf and #thefrontierproject to let us know their masterpieces of vision and verbiage had been submitted.

We were absolutely floored by the creativity and inspiration of the submissions we received. You guys would give professional interior designers a run for their money!

So, without any more fanfare, the winners of our “Hospital Waiting Room of the Future” essay contest are:

Riaz Karmali

Evi Hui

Please direct message @hxdconf to accept your prize!

And for all of you students who didn’t win, we want you to know that we thought your work was still amazing. Your visions of what could be – and what should be—exemplify the exact kind of excellence the healthcare industry needs. We hope that you will continue to seek opportunities to improve healthcare through human centered design and technology.

You can start by joining us this March at the Westin Boston Waterfront to immerse yourself with peers and thoughts leaders, and to take your experience to the next level at HxD2012.

Enter to Win a Scholarship to the Healthcare Experience Design Conference!

Amy Cueva - February 14th 2012

With all of the cards, heart candy, and smell of flowers in the air; we found ourselves day dreaming of dances, texting to friends in lecture halls, and remembering what it was like to learn about cutting edge strategies in College.

We also remember how expensive it can be being a college student, so on this day of sweet love we decided to extend a scholarship to College students to earn the opportunity to attend the Healthcare Experience Design Conference for free!

Between 2/14 and 2/22 all you have to do is:

  • Write 250-350 word essay describing a hospital waiting room in the year 2020

  • Have the subject line for the essay be “The waiting room of 2020”

  • Tweet to us telling us that you have submitted your essay using the hashtags #hxdconf and #thefrontierproject

  • You must be able to show us proof that you are currently enrolled in a University/College

The winner will be chosen Wednesday (2/22) at 12:00 pm (ET).

Good luck!

Winners of the Axure RP Wireframing Software Are...

Amy Cueva - February 13th 2012

Last week we held a Twitter contest and asked all of our fellow healthcare pioneers to tweet -- using the hashtags #hxdconf and #axure -- about how they’d use Axure’s RP wireframing software to make the world of healthcare a happier, more user friendly place.

Well, today is the day before Valentine’s Day and we’re full of love. So, since all your tweets were so inspirational, we’ve decided to choose TWO WINNERS! After all, two minds are better than one. Now we’ll have twice the brainpower and creativity at work!

And our lucky winners are:

Please direct message @hxdconf to accept your prize and let us know where to send it.

For those of you who didn’t win, there’s no need to rush to the vending machines and eat your way through an entire row of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. You can still live your dream of improving healthcare through human centered design and technology.

All you have to do is join us in Boston this March for HxD2012. We can promise that you will have a great time, meet a slew of amazing people, and acquire a boatload of HxD tools, information, and strategies!
